'Trump getting fed up': Is US preparing for major offensive against Iran? Report claims military buildup not a bluff

The military operation could be "full-fledged" and last for weeks, making it larger in scope than the Israel-led 12-day war in June 2025, according to the report

Amid talks aimed at resolving long-standing nuclear dispute between the US and Iran, a report has claimed that the Donald Trump administration could launch a major offensive against Iran "very soon".

A report by Axios, citing sources, claimed that the military operation could be "full-fledged" and last for weeks, making it larger in scope than the Israel-led 12-day war in June 2025.

"The boss is getting fed up. Some people around him warn him against going to war with Iran, but I think there is 90% chance we see kinetic action in the next few weeks," Axios quoted one Trump adviser as saying.

The report comes as Trump aides Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for three hours in Geneva on Tuesday. Iran has two week to come back with a detailed proposal, according to officials cited by the outlet.

The two-week deadline is significant as ahead of the 12-day war, White House set a two-week window for Trump to choose between talks or strikes.

Earlier, when thousands of protesters were killed in Iran as part of a crackdown, the US had threatened to strike Iran. However, later, the Trump administration opted for nuclear talks coupled with military buildup in the region.

The US officials seem to be pessimistic even when both sides say the talks "made progress".

Currently, Washington has brought massive firepower to the region to put pressure on Tehran. These include two aircraft carriers, a handful of warships, several hundred fighter jets and many air defence systems. Among the airpower were F-22 Raptors, F-16 Fighting Falcons, E-3 Sentry radar planes and a U-2 Dragon Lady spy plane.
