If you are a UAE resident planning to sponsor a relative or a friend on a visit visa, you should be aware of the latest changes in the requirements. It now depends on your income, announced the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).

The move to include salary slabs as a requirement is part of several changes introduced by the ICP in order to improve transparency and attract talented individuals to the UAE. Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICP, stated that the amendments were issued based on studies on trends in residency and foreign affairs, both locally, regionally, and globally.
UAE residents who earn Dh 4,000 to Dh 15,000 can sponsor visit visa based on their relationship with the visa applicant. While applying for the visit visa, they need to provide proof of kinship to the sponsor.
The sponsor must earn Dh 4,000 per month, if they want to bring their first-degree relatives. These include parents, spouse and children.
For the visit visa applications of second-degree relatives, the sponsor must earn at least Dh 8,000 per month. These include siblings, grandparents and grandchildren.
To bring in third-degree relatives like uncle, aunt and cousins, the sponsor should have a monthly income of at least Dh 8,000 per month.
Only those who earn at least Dh 15,000 monthly salary can sponsor friends and non-relatives.
The visa applicants should furnish a passport that is valid for at least six months and a return travel ticket.
