In a bid to curb road accidents, Ajman authorities have directed taxis and limousines in the emirate to install smart speed limiter devices.
This is different from existing speed limiters in other emirates and can adjust the speed of the car based on the real-time location of the vehicle. The speed will also be adjusted as per the speed limit of the particular road.

The speed limiter system will be rolled out in phases. The Ajman Transport Authority believes that the smart devices will stop drivers from over-speeding and bring down dangerous driving habits.
The speed limiter will come with integrated smart mapping system and GPS to identify the speed limit of each area and road. It will be directly linked to the electronic driving system to ensure accuracy in speed control.
Regular data updates will be sent to a central command centre to ensure that the specified speed limits are met.
