UAE weather: Rain, strong winds, and extended El Niño climate effects predicted
El Niño phenomenon in the UAE is expected to cause above-average rainfall and elevated temperatures as significant Pacific Ocean climatic activity persists through early 2027
The National Centre of Meteorology has forecasted above-average rainfall and temperatures across the UAE due to the strong El Nino phenomenon expected to last until March 2027, alongside immediate predictions for rain, fog, and active winds in the coming days.

The National Centre of Meteorology predicted above-average rainfall and temperatures in the coming months due to the prevalence of the El Niño phenomenon until March 2027.
Regarding seasonal forecasts for the effects of El Niño, the centre stated that current indicators of climatic conditions in the Pacific Ocean point to significant activity until February 2027, with expectations that its effects will extend to the country until April.
The phenomenon will peak during October and November 2026, with a value of approximately +3.0 degrees Celsius, indicating a very strong El Niño. The centre predicted that the probability of the El Niño phenomenon occurring would reach 96% between November 2026 and March 2027, expecting temperatures and rainfall during this period to be above average. Strong weather events can occur, especially towards the end of this period.
The Centre also predicted rainfall in various parts of the country, from Monday until next Thursday, with chances of cumulus cloud formation, fog formation, and increased wind activity.
The Centre's report stated that the weather will be humid in the morning in some coastal and inland areas in the UAE, with the possibility of fog or light fog forming, becoming clear to partly cloudy later. There is a chance of some cumulus clouds forming in the east, extending to some inland and western areas in the afternoon, accompanied by rainfall. The winds will be active to occasionally strong, capable of raising dust, and their speed will reach up to 50 km/h.
The weather over the next two days will remain similar. The centre also stated that the winds will be southeasterly, turning northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and active to strong at times, with clouds that raise dust. Their speeds will range from 10 to 25 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
