Delhi Police have filed at least four FIRs against social media handles for allegedly spreading fake content and false narratives during the recent protests in Delhi over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls revision.

According to police, these handles were allegedly disseminating misleading information, attempting to create an "anti-India narrative" and disturb law and order.

Intelligence inputs showed that several Pakistani social media handles have been identified as active in spreading anti-India sentiments across the border, reported ANI.

These Pakistani handles had claimed deaths during the SIR protests on October 10 and circulated fake videos and misleading content while posing as Indians.

Around 500 social media posts that were allegedly spreading rumors or trying to create unrest among people have been taken down so far.

Delhi Police thwarted a planned protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar on October 10, detaining thousands of people including CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, and several other student leaders.

Several Opposition party leaders were also detained as police barricaded multiple routes leading to the protest venue.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police filed two separate FIRs in connection with the INDIA bloc MPs’ Supreme Court march on Monday. The charges included alleged violation of prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The Opposition MPs marched through Barakhamba Road towards the Supreme Court and filed a petition in the apex court challenging the Election Commission's decisions relating to the SIR of electoral rolls.

According to police, no permission had been granted for the march to the Supreme Court and several opposition leaders were allegedly seen breaking police barricades with the help of a mini-truck during the protest on Monday.
