A 34-year-old woman was found dead inside an OYO hotel room in SR Nagar in Hyderabad just hours after a man she was staying with left the premises.
The woman was identified as B Shrisha, a bank customer care executive. She was a native of Nagasamudram in Vikarabad district and was a divorcee.
The man, Srinivas, is a native of Obulapur village in the same district. They were reportedly in a relationship.
Jubilee Hills DCP A Raman Reddy said that the two used false names and identity documents while checking into the hotel.
Police said that the man, Srinivas, registered himself as "Ganesh", while Sirisha was recorded as "Durga". The couple was staying in Room No. 10," he said.
The hotel staff became suspicious after Srinivas, 38, left the premises at around 3:30 am on Tuesday. He told the reception staff that Sirisha would check out later after having breakfast.
Employees rang the doorbell in the morning, but there was no response. When there was no response till noon, the hotel staff alerted the police.
The opened room 103 using a duplicate key in front of police personnel and found Sirisha lying unresponsive on the bed. A plate of food was found beside her.
"We suspect that Sirisha and Srinivas had an argument in the night, and he attacked her with a blunt object, causing death," DCP Ramana Reddy added.
A Clues Team examined the room and collected forensic evidence.
CCTV footage from the hotel has also been secured; investigators are attempting to reconstruct the events leading to the death.
Special police teams have been deployed to trace Srinivas.
Sources said that the investigator found multiple injuries on Sirisha’s body and suspected that she was assaulted with a curtain rod.
However, a final forensic examination and analysis will determine the cause of death.
Police are also examining the discrepancies surrounding her identity. The identity document recovered during the investigation reportedly carried the name Durga. Newer records from an earlier private hospital treatment reportedly identified her as Sirisha.
They are also examining the woman’s previous treatment following an assault by her husband.
Police have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to murder.
Local reports said that Srinivas allegedly promised to marry Sirisha at a temple.
Their phone records, hotel documents, and forensic evidence are being examined to understand the man’s motive.
Srinivas is absconding, and a search is underway to nab the suspect.
