Why Disha Salian’s father sent Aditya Thackeray Rs 500 crore defamation notice
Satish Salian had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court in 2020, seeking an investigation into his daughter’s death
Disha Salian's father, Satish Salian, has initiated a Rs 500 crore defamation notice against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, asserting that their claims he was being used to harass Thackeray are false and defamatory. Satish Salian maintains his sole objective is to pursue a legal investigation into the death of his daughter, Disha, who was Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager. He further challenged Aaditya Thackeray's denial of any acquaintance with Disha, referencing mobile tower location data as potential evidence of a connection.

Disha Salian’s father Satish Salian has reportedly sent a Rs 500 crore defamation notice to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. He has also sent a similar notice to former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, Hindi media reports said.
Disha, who was actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, died on June 8, 2020, six days before Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, after falling from a building. The CBI had registered an FIR in connection with Disha Salian’s death. Aaditya Thackeray’s name is mentioned in the FIR. Others named in the FIR include actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty, and Showik Chakraborty, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, and former police officer Sachin Vaze.
Aaditya Thackeray had denied ever meeting or knowing Disha Salian. Thackeray had described Satish Salian’s demand for an investigation into the case as politically motivated.
What does the notice say?
The notice stated that by opposing Satish Salian’s petition, Thackeray has questioned his bona fides.
“These allegations are false, baseless, reckless and grossly defamatory, having been made without any credible material or proof and solely with a view to further your ulterior and improper motives,” another report quoted the notice as saying.
According to the notice, Thackeray’s legal representatives had said on his behalf that Satish Salian was being used as a weapon to harass him.
“These allegations are false, baseless, irresponsible, and defamatory,” Jan Satta quoted the notice as saying. Satish Salian was only seeking a legal investigation into his daughter’s death.
Aaditya Thackeray is lying: Satish Salian
Satish Salian said, “If he does not know, then how is his mobile tower location matching? Aaditya Thackeray is lying.”
"We have come to file an FIR regarding the gang-rape and murder case against Aaditya Thackeray and others. Secondly, in addition to our existing evidence, we also possess Sachin Vaze's extra-judicial confession... despite the availability of evidence with the Narcotics Control Bureau, NCB officer Sanjay Singh failed to file a charge sheet against the accused—Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, and others—for six years. Since the corruption involved has surfaced during the inquiry, we are seeking a separate investigation," Satish Salian's lawyer Nilesh Ojha had said.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Aaditya Thackeray said on social media platform X that linking his name to Disha Salian’s death was a deliberate attempt at character assassination. He also said there was no evidence in the case. He said a false campaign had been running continuously for several years.
Disha Salian, who had briefly worked as Rajput's manager, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case. A week later, Rajput was found dead in his apartment on June 14, 2020, triggering speculation about a possible link between the two deaths.
