Shivani Chauhan, alias Sia, the victim of the alleged hit-and-run incident in Gurugram, said the arrest of the main accused, Kalyan Bainsla, was not enough and demanded the arrest of the others who were allegedly present in the car.

Speaking to reporters after recording her statement at the district court, Sia rejected allegations that she was “playing the victim card”.

“There were two other people in the car. They should be arrested as well. They must be punished. If they aren’t, such incidents will continue to happen,” she said.

Bainsla and his cousin Lavneesh, who was allegedly in the car with him, were arrested in Rajasthan on Tuesday, hours after police added an attempt-to-murder charge following widespread outrage over the incident.

The incident took place on Sunday when Bainsla’s car allegedly rammed into a two-wheeler from the side on Golf Course Road, knocking Sia off her bike and causing her to skid several times along the road.

Sia escaped with minor injuries and later shared footage of the incident recorded by a camera mounted on her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike.

Bainsla’s other cousin, Kamal, however, accused Sia of “playing the victim card” and claimed that Kalyan was innocent. “The girl is playing the victim card. Kalyan is innocent. They are influencing people to ride bikes at high speed,” he told PTI on Tuesday.

Rejecting the allegation, Sia said she would stand firm in seeking justice, claiming that an attempt had been made on her life.

“I have requested [the court] that strict action be taken in this case. I have sustained some injuries, and the doctors have advised me to undergo an MRI and X-rays,” she said.

Gurugram Police said Bainsla was booked under an attempt-to-murder charge after scrutinising Instagram videos and CCTV footage related to the incident.
