Delhi weather update: IMD mentions 'isolated heavy rainfall', 'very light rain' as forecast for Thursday out
On Wednesday, the surface wind speed in Delhi will increase, becoming up to 15 kmph from the southwest direction during the afternoon, before decreasing to become up to 12 kmph from the southwest direction during the evening
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not ruled out the possibility of very light rainfall in Delhi-NCR on Thursday, September 17, with some parts of the national capital potentially receiving light showers on Wednesday evening. The western end of the monsoon trough, coupled with a low-pressure area and an upper-air cyclonic circulation, is expected to bring isolated heavy rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and Punjab from September 15 to September 17. Delhi is likely to experience a partly cloudy sky on Thursday, with very light rain possible from forenoon to afternoon, and temperatures expected between 33-35°C (maximum) and 22-24°C (minimum). Conditions are also becoming favorable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from some parts of northern India around September 19.

The western end of the monsoon trough, a low-pressure area over southeast Rajasthan and adjoining north Gujarat, an upper-air cyclonic circulation lying over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, and other systems may bring "isolated heavy rainfall" over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and Punjab from September 15 (Tuesday) to September 17 (Thursday), the weather department said.
According to the IMD, the Delhi-NCR region is going to have a partly cloudy sky on Thursday. The chances of very light rain from the forenoon to the afternoon cannot be ruled out.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 33°C to 35°C and 22°C to 24°C, respectively. The minimum temperature will be below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places and the maximum temperatures will be near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at most places over Delhi," the IMD said.
On Friday too, the Delhi skies will remain partly cloudy. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 33°C to 35°C and 23°C to 25°C, respectively. The minimum temperature will be near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at most places and the maximum temperatures will be near normal (-1.5°C to 1.5°C) at most places over Delhi.

The weather office had earlier predicted rainfall activity over Delhi, with light to moderate showers likely at several places and heavy rain possible at some places until Sunday, September 13.
