In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly repeatedly raped by her father in Raipur. Reports indicate that the minor also became pregnant twice and that the accused sold the baby born to the girl for ₹1.5 lakh.

The police said that the accused forged documents to have the teenager admitted to a private hospital for delivery.

The case came to light on Monday, following which six accused were arrested, including the father, his sister, the couple who bought the newborn and staff members from two private hospitals.

According to a police official, the sexual abuse allegedly started in 2023 after the minor’s mother divorced the husband and left all three of her daughters under his care. The victim is the eldest of the siblings.

The teenager told the police that she was sexually assaulted by her father in a relative’s house, where the man allegedly forced her to drink alcohol. PTI reported that he threatened to kill her daughter if she revealed anything.

Police officials said that the abuse continued after the first incident and the girl became pregnant. When the girl informed her paternal aunt about the pregnancy, the aunt told her father.

He allegedly assaulted the girl again, and the aunt helped him obtain abortion pills. He forced the teenager to consume the medicine, which resulted in a miscarriage.

The assault reportedly continued after the incident, and the minor became pregnant again in 2025. The father allegedly took her to the residence of a nurse named Varsha Mandal.

Mandal reportedly sent the girl to the home of a nurse known as Geeta Rai, where the teenager stayed for about two months.

Rai allegedly helped in arranging documents, including a fake Aadhaar card, to get her admitted to a private hospital in the Dangania area of Raipur. The teenager underwent a surgical procedure to deliver a baby boy.

Subsequently, the father, along with the doctor and others, sold the newborn to another couple. The girl remained at Rai’s house for about 15 days after giving birth before the father took her home.

The minor later reached out to her mother on social media and told her about the alleged abuse. The mother took her to the police station, where a complaint was filed.

A case has been registered at New Rajendra Nagar police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those relating to rape, the POCSO Act, human trafficking and fraud.
