Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Khushbu Sundar launched a scathing attack on party state president Nainar Nagenthran over his remarks about Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s mother, saying women should not be used as political targets.

Sundar, who has often taken a strong stand against misogynistic politics, described Nagenthran’s comment as “disgusting” and said such remarks were unacceptable on any platform.

“The crude remark made by BJP State President Thiru Nainar Nagendran about the CM of Tamil Nadu’s mother is disgusting. Such comments are unacceptable on any platform,” she said.

Calling the remark a personal attack that crossed the boundaries of political discourse, Sundar pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on ‘Nari Shakti’ and respect for women.

“Question the party, raise your voice for the people, attack the government if they fail to deliver, but never ever use a woman to make your point. WOMEN ARE NOT PAWNS IN THE GAME OF POLITICS,” she said.

Sundar also urged political parties and their leaders to exercise restraint before making remarks that insult women, stressing that every person is born because of a woman and a mother.

Nagenthran made the controversial remark in response to Vijay’s “kutti kathai” (short story) targeting DMK president M.K. Stalin.

Vijay had narrated the “kutti kathai” in the Assembly following the DMK’s defeat in the April 2026 Assembly election, making a humorous reference to the whereabouts of an opposition leader’s “father” in an apparent dig at Stalin’s electoral defeat in the Kolathur Assembly constituency.

Taking a jibe at Vijay’s remarks, Nagenthran said, “When people search for a father in the house and cannot find him, they should ask the mother at home to know who the father is.”

The comment drew criticism from several political leaders, including former BJP state president K. Annamalai, who accused Nagenthran of crossing the boundaries of political decorum and civility.
