Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, on Monday, took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP following an RTI filed against him seeking to know how he completed his education.

A Surat-based RTI activist on Saturday said he had sought a probe into the finances of Dipke's father, a retired government employee who sent his son abroad for education.

Dipke, who earned a Master of Science degree in Public Relations from the College of Communication at Boston University, returned to India in June to lead an agitation against the NEET-UG paper leak that saw youth from different parts of the country converge in Delhi to demand reforms and the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as the Union education minister.

Dipke remained unperturbed about the RTI. "Will the emperor show his degree?" Dipke asked in a social media post, and expressed readiness to reveal his scholarship letter and education loan letter.

In a video on X, he said, “I just saw that a BJP worker has filed an RTI on me and wants to know how I completed my education. I want to ask him, will your leaders show their degree?”

He sought to know how his educational background and qualifications have become an issue. "Why are you so against education?" he asked.

In an exclusive interview with PTI, he insisted that he has not faced any personal attacks so far.

"Those who wish to investigate my education funding are free to do so," Dipke said.

"I received a scholarship from Boston University, and for the remaining amount, I took an education loan. It is still pending and has to be repaid. The fight is not personal," he said.
