After activist Sonam Wangchuk was hospitalised on Day 21 of his indefinite hunger strike, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Saturday announced that he is taking Wangchuk's place. 

"Abhijeet Dipke sits on an indefinite hunger strike. The 'Chalo Sansad' march on 20 July will proceed as planned," CJP informed in a post on X. 

Dipke began his indefinite hunger strike amid big claims and counterclaims over Wangchuk's hospitalisation. CJP alleged that the Delhi Police lathi-charged the students gathered, and Wangchuk was "dragged" away from Jantar Mantar by force. 

The Delhi Police said that they acted under a Delhi High Court order concerning his health. 

Dipke had earlier claimed that he was beaten and detained by the Delhi Police. However, the police denied the claims.

"As per orders of the Hon’ble High Court and on expert medical advice, due to the deteriorating health condition of Sh. Sonam Wangchuk has been shifted to the hospital for essential medical care," the statement of DCP New Delhi read.

Furthermore, the police also requested the protesters at Jantar Mantar to "peacefully vacate the place at the earliest."

Meanwhile, the wife of Sonam Wangchuk, Gitanjali J. Angmo, urged doctors at Safdarjung Hospital not to administer any oral or intravenous treatment to her husband without the consent of his family and the medical team that had been monitoring his health.

“Nothing should be administered to him orally or intravenous without taking consent from me, his family,” Angmo posted on X. 

Dipke, along with many CJP supporters and activists, has been leading a protest seeking accountability on the NEET-UG paper leak and exam irregularities. They have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged exam irregularities.
