Heavy rains have continued to lash Mumbai since the beginning of the month. The intensity of the rains, however are set to decrease after July 8.
The monsoon winds are currently gusting actively over the region.
Meanwhile, the severe low-pressure area active over Jharkhand and nearby Odisha is moving north-westwards.
The pressure had directly affected Maharashtra and the wind speeds over it,
By Tuesday, the winds are expected to move towards Nashik. A red alert was issued for the area on Tuesday.
Palghar and Thane were also placed under a red alert for Tuesday.
The weather prediction suggests that cloudburst-like conditions are set to occur on Tuesday over Nashik.
According to the IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the Ghatmatha and remote areas of Satar district on July 7. The is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri.
The continuous rains in Mumbai have taken a break. The red alert issued on Monday was changed to an orange alert on Tuesday.
However, despite the rain subsiding, the meteorological department has asked residents to take precautions; the clouds are still visible over Mumbai rain and the tides are high.
The IMD also issued a forecast for the next few days in the region.
There will be fairly widespread to widespread rainfall likely over Konkan & Goa during July 7 to 12, and for central Maharashtra during July 7 to 8.
Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over central Maharashtra from July 9 to 12.
There is also set to be isolated heavy rainfall over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra during July 7 and 9;
There is also set to be heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Konkan on July 7 and over central Maharashtra during July 7 to 8.
