A BMW convertible traveling at an estimated 251 kmph crashed and overturned multiple times on the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway near Badlapur resulting in the deaths of two youths
A BMW convertible traveling at an estimated 251 kilometers per hour crashed and overturned multiple times on the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway near Badlapur early Sunday morning, resulting in the deaths of two young adults, Yogesh Negi, 26, and Rebecca Jacob, 24, while a third occupant, Angad Gill, 24, sustained serious injuries and is hospitalized. The accident, which occurred around 3 am in an under-construction section of the highway, is believed to have been caused by the driver losing control at high speed, with investigators finding the deceased approximately 500 meters from the crash site, suggesting they were ejected due to the vehicle's open hood and the severity of the impact. While police suspect Angad Gill was driving as the car was registered to his father, they are still working to confirm if he was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, and the investigation is also focusing on how the group accessed the unopened highway and their activities leading up to the fatal incident, which reportedly involved celebrating Negi's birthday.

A speeding convertible BMW crashed and overturned several times on the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway near Badlapur in the early hours of Sunday, killing two youths and injuring another who was believed to have been driving the vehicle. The accident occurred at around 3 am in an under-construction area of the highway.
The luxury sports vehicle was travelling at a speed of upto 251 kilometres per hour. The car then hit a divider and overturned multiple times. The bodies of the victims were reportedly found about 500 meters away from the crash.
Investigators believed that the bodies of the occupants of the vehicle were ejected from the vehicle during the crash as it had an open hood,
Some of their body parts were found scattered at a distance of 50 to 100 meters.
The deceased were identified as Yogesh Negi, 26, Rebecca Jacob, 24 and Angad Gill, 24.
Police believe Gill was driving the vehicle since the car was registered under Gill’s father's name.
However, police have not been able to conclusively determine if Gill was at the wheel at the time of the crash.
The group was reportedly together to celebrate Negi’s birthday.
Both Negi and Angad hailed from Badlapur, while Jacob was a resident of Bandra.
Angad survived the crash, sustaining serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at the Fortic Hospital in Kalyan. The airbag reportedly contributed to his survival.
Investigators think that the accident occurred because the driver lost control while travelling at high speeds on a still under construction highway in the dark.
The accident also raised the question of how the group was able to enter a section of the ten-lane highway that had not been opened for public use.
There are also indications that the driver applied the brake before the vehicle crashed into the divider
Investigators say that the three went out to celebrate Negi’s birthday and were returning home when the accident occurred.
Police also say that the three drove around several times before the crash and was travelling toward Panvel towards Titwala when they lost control of the vehicle.
Authorities are investigating how the group gained access to the highway and what happened in the second leading upto the fatal crash.
