Faisal Khan, also known as Khan sir, received major relief after a Patna district court stayed his arrest over alleged charges that he directed his security guards to open fire during a clash outside his institute.

The District judge’s court reserved the decision after hearing Khan Sir’s anticipatory bail plea on Monday.

The development comes a day after the Bihar fire service issued a notice to Khan Sir over his alleged fire safety violations at his coaching institute.

The educator's lawyer, Arvind Kumar Mavva, told PTI that an anticipatory bail was filed and that interim protection was granted to the educator.

“In simple terms, this means that the arrest has been stayed. Until a decision is made and until the next hearing date, no police officer can arrest him. Khan Sir can travel wherever he wants. If the police wish to question him, he can appear before them and provide answers. Whatever inquiry needs to be conducted can be carried out. Khan Sir will also cooperate with the investigation," he said.

The court has also asked the police for Khan Sir’s case diary and the accused's criminal history.

“The next hearing is scheduled for the 10th, when the matter will be heard again. After the case diary is received, further arguments will take place,” he added.

Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said on Friday that the educator and YouTuber was named in an FIR in connection with a vandalism case at the Khan Global Studies Institute.

Police had detained two guards from the coaching centre for allegedly firing shots on June 2 when a group of 15 to 20 people allegedly vandalised the coaching centre’s premises.

After the vandalism incident, Khan had alleged that persons from a rival coaching institute were behind the firing. He later retracted his statement, saying that he heard of the firing from his guards. 

The CCTV footage collected from the area corroborated the allegations. Videos also showed the guards firing shots.

Members of the rival coaching institute, in a statement to the media, alleged that Khan orchestrated the incident himself.

During questioning, the guards told police that they fired two rounds each from their licensed .315-bore rifles after being instructed to do so. They further stated that Khan Sir was present at the spot when the incident occurred.

Khan Sir was subsequently named in the FIR under provisions related to attempt to murder and the Arms Act.
