This comes as the Trinamool Congress attempts to rebuild key organisations amid the internal crisis over rebel MLAs and prevent MPs from following suit.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is rebuilding its frontal organisations two days after it dissolved the earlier secretaries and presidents of its committees.

This comes in the wake of its internal crisis, with rebel MLAs forming another faction over discontent with Abhishek Banerjee becoming one of the main decision makers.

However, Abhishek remains the national general secretary, while Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen are the joint secretaries.

The national spokespersons are Kalyan Banerjee and Derek O’Brien, while the state spokesperson is Kunal Ghosh, amongst others.

Mala Roy is the President of the women’s wing of the party, while its overall president is now Chandrima Bhattacharya, as Subrata Bakshi is unwell.

The TMC has also decided to approach the Calcutta High Court on Monday against West Bengal Assembly Speaker Ratindra Bose’s decision to name Ritabrata Banerjee as the Leader of Opposition (LoP).

“We have decided the Opposition leader made by the speaker is illegal and we are going to court on Monday. We will file a petition in High Court," declared Kalyan Banerjee.

The party will come back in full force post the June 8 INDIA bloc meeting in Delhi. Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O'Brien, Kalyan Banerjee, and Dola Sen will be attending it.

On the same day, Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim tendered his resignation, while TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee called a meeting of 18 party leaders at her Kalighat residence.

This included four of its 28 Lok Sabha MPs, two of its 13 Rajya Sabha MPs, eight of its 80 MLAs, two former MLAs and two councillors.

Prominent faces included Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O'Brien, Kalyan Banerjee, Kunal Ghosh, Firhad Hakim and Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay.

The agenda of the meeting was related to national issues, apart from rebuilding the party.

It comes amidst the crisis within the TMC, where 58 rebel MLAs have formed a separate faction supporting Ritabrata Banerjee as the Leader or Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly. Though the TMC had expelled Ritabrata and Sandipan Saha, the Assembly Speaker called the expulsions invalid, as no prior show-cause notice had been served to them.

There are some MLAs within the rebel faction that are unhappy with Mamata possibly becoming their chief advisor and wanting her as their leader.

“We will ignore him (Ritabrata calling Mamata a chief advisor) as he is an infant in politics,” said Kalyan Banerjee.

“Let those MLAs give it in writing to Mamata and complain about (Ritabrata), then we will consider it,” he added.

The TMC is also faced with 23 MPs likely to form a rebel faction within the Parliament. This comes after Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar resigned from all party posts a few weeks ago, while speaking out against the party.

Dastidar had also attended an administrative meeting called by CM Suvendu Adhikari in Kalyani about a week ago. However, the TMC chose not to respond to these speculations.
