Bhangar blast: NIA searches former TMC MLA Saukat Mollah's house
The agency also searched multiple houses in Bamunia village, the site of the explosion
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at nine locations in West Bengal, including the home of former TMC MLA Saukat Mollah, as part of its investigation into a March 19 bomb blast in Bhangar that resulted in one death and three injuries. The NIA took over the case in April, following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, after the Kolkata police discovered 79 crude bombs and other explosive materials stored in an abandoned house. The agency has already arrested several individuals, including TMC leader Wahidul Islam, and the raids are reportedly connected to the recovery of these explosives, though Mollah himself was not present during the search of his residence.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at nine locations across West Bengal, including the residence of former Trinamool Congress MLA Saukat Mollah in South 24 Parganas, in connection with a bomb blast case.
An NIA team, accompanied by personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), arrived at Mollah's Moukhali residence in the morning and conducted extensive searches.
Reports said that Mollah was not present at the time of the raid. His son, Imran Mollah, was brought to the premises by investigators during the operation, while his wife and daughter arrived later.
The agency also searched multiple houses in Bamunia village, the site of the explosion, and conducted a search of Mollah's office as part of the operation.
The case relates to a bomb blast in Bhangar on March 19—just days before the assembly elections—which killed one person and injured three others.
The NIA, which took over the investigation in April, has arrested several individuals in connection with the case, including TMC leader Wahidul Islam. The agency had registered a fresh First Information Report (FIR) following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The probe was transferred to the NIA after Kolkata police recovered 79 crude bombs and other explosive materials, which were being stored at a location that posed serious risks to human life and property.
The explosives were reportedly kept by unidentified individuals in an abandoned house near a burial ground in Majherhat (Poilepara) village under the Uttar Kashipur police station in South 24 Parganas district.
