Did the TMC dissolve all its party committees in West Bengal to regain control amid the escalating internal rift?
The Trinamool Congress dissolved all its organisational committees in West Bengal following a significant number of its MLAs showing support for Ritabrata Banerjee
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has dissolved all its organizational committees in West Bengal, including frontal organizations, following a significant internal crisis highlighted by 58 of its 80 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) publicly supporting expelled legislator Ritabrata Banerjee. This move, announced via a statement on X, precedes a comprehensive review of the party's organizational structure and performance, with a reconstitution to be announced later. The dissolution comes in the wake of the TMC's recent Assembly poll defeat, which has intensified internal divisions, with the 58 MLAs meeting collectively exceeding the two-thirds threshold required to avoid disqualification under anti-defection laws. Political analysts suggest this restructuring is an effort by the TMC leadership to reassert control amidst the ongoing turmoil.

The TMC has announced the dissolution of all its organisational committees in West Bengal hours after as many as 58 of its MLAs approached the Assembly speaker to show support for the expelled party legislator Ritabrata Banerjee.
The party also announced a comprehensive review of its organisational structure and performance.
In a statement on X, it said that all of its committees in West Benal stood dissolved with immediate effect.
"After careful consideration, it has been decided that all committees of the All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, as well as all its frontal organisations, shall stand dissolved with immediate effect,” the party said.
"Based on the findings of this exercise, the organisational structure of the parent body and all frontal organisations will be reconstituted and announced in due course," the statement said.
The party, however, did not elaborate on the decision.
The decision, however, comes amid the backdrop of an intensifying split in the TMC after its recent defeat at the Assembly polls.
The slip intensified on Wednesday when 58 out of the total 80 MLAs turned up for a meeting at the assembly. The number crossed the two-thirds threshold that is required to avoid disqualification under the anti-defection law.
Earlier on Wednesday, TMC MLA Mustafir Rahman told ANI that they did not know the exact figure but heard that about 59 signatures were received regarding the nomination of the West Bengal LoP.
Political observers say that the new organisational restructuring is an attempt by the party Leadership to regain control of the organisation amid the ongoing crisis.
