CBI to probe if Twisha Sharma’s pregnancy termination was related to drug use, as Giribala Singh claimed: Report
According to the FIR, Samarth had brought her to AIIMS Bhopal, claiming she had hanged herself at home at 10:20 pm
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is intensifying its investigation into the death of Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old woman found hanging in her matrimonial home on May 12, by summoning medical professionals and investigating claims made by the deceased's mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, a former judge who was arrested after her anticipatory bail was quashed. Singh had alleged Twisha was a drug addict, attributing this as the reason for a doctor-approved Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP), a claim the CBI intends to verify by questioning the psychiatrist Twisha consulted, the doctors who treated her, and examining her medical records to ascertain the truth behind Singh's statements. Concurrently, the CBI is also seeking to identify individuals who aided Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, during his fugitive period before his surrender on May 22, as they plan to confront suspects with their statements and seek Giribala Singh's custody for further questioning regarding the circumstances surrounding Twisha's death.

Widening its probe into the death of Twisha Sharma, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will soon summon several medical professionals linked to the case, a report said.
Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of the deceased woman, had alleged that Twisha was an addict who used to consume drugs in large quantities. She had reportedly stated this as the reason for doctors approving a Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) procedure.
Former judge Giribala Singh was arrested on Thursday, a day after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed her anticipatory bail. The CBI questioned Singh at her residence in Bhopal's Bag Mughaliya extension area before taking her into custody.
The CBI plans to confront suspects with each other's statements and question them in custody regarding the circumstances leading to the death of 33-year-old Twisha on May 12, officials said, adding that the agency will produce Giribala Singh before a competent court to seek her custody.
The central agency is expected to dig deep into this allegation by questioning the doctors.
It is reported that Twisha had also consulted a psychiatrist. According to a television channel, the CBI team will seek to confirm whether Giribala Singh was lying. The psychiatrist and doctors who treated Twisha, along with her medical records, are expected to establish the facts.
Parallelly, the probe team is also looking to track down those who helped Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, while he was on the run. Those on the CBI radar include individuals who provided him with logistical support, accommodation, travel support, and communication links until he surrendered on May 22.
Twisha was allegedly found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12. The prosecution argued that given the allegations and circumstances of the case, the trial court ought to have appreciated the evidence more carefully before granting anticipatory bail.
