As part of widening the probe into the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation has raided the residence of a Maharashtra man, Bhaurao Kadam, who had brought the leaked question paper for his daughter ahead of the exam held on May 3. The investigators alleged that he paid Rs 5 lakh to obtain the leaked question paper.

The NEET exam, scheduled to be held on May 3, was cancelled after allegations of paper leak. The NTA has announced that the re-examination will be held on June 21.

The CBI has officially arrested nine individuals so far across five states in connection with the question paper leak case.

According to reports, the raid at Kadam's home in Nanded lasted for nearly eight hours. The officials questioned multiple members of the family during the course of the raid. The investigators were enquiring to find the person who supplied the question paper to the man.

The investigators searched the entire flat and reviewed records believed to be linked to the alleged payment.

Reportedly, Kadam and his family members were asked to appear before the agency in Pune for further questioning.

The raid was conducted a day after the agency questioned a coaching institute promoter in Latur.

The CBI took over the case after the Rajasthan Police's Special Operations Group found that a handwritten 'guess paper' circulated prior to the exam bore a substantial overlap with the actual question paper.

Among the arrested were a retired chemistry professor and a botany lecturer who were allegedly part of the network. The probe is also examining the role of an unnamed official associated with the NTA.
