CNG price hike in Delhi has occurred once more, with the cost now surpassing Rs 80 per kilogram

The price of CNG has increased once again in Delhi on Saturday. A kilogram of Compressed Natural Gas now costs an extra Rs 1, crossing the Rs 80 per kg, compared to a few days ago when the price was just Rs 79.09.

This is the second hike in just two days.

The price shift is one of back-to-back revisions being held amid the geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which supplied about 40 per cent of its crude imports.

Earlier in the week, the price was increased by Rs 2 per kg.

These are the prices for the fuel in different parts of the Delhi NCR cities.

Delhi:  Rs 80.09/kg

Gurugram: Rs 84.12/kg

Noida & Ghaziabad: Rs 88.70/kg

Meerut: Rs 88.58/kg

Meanwhile, petrol prices were raised by Rs 3 per litre. The rate has gone from Rs 94.77 to Rs 97.77.

The rise in the prices has created concerns over transportation and fuel in households.

The price hike is also expected to directly affect auto rickshaw rates and taxi fares across the capital region.

The drivers' union have proposed that the prices should go from Rs 30 to Rs 50 for the first 1.5 kilometres. They also demanded that the per kilometre fare should be raised from Rs 11 to Rs 15.

They also added that there would be waiting charges of Rs 1 per minute and an additional luggage fee of Rs 25.
