More details emerge regarding the untimely death of Prateek Yadav, step-brother of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, with relatives claiming that he opted to leave the hospital against the doctor’s advice just days before his death.

According to local media reports, Prateek’s health had been deteriorating for the past few days. He first experienced severe chest pain on April 30th while disembarking from a flight at Lucknow Airport, following which he collapsed. He was rushed to Medanta Hospital and was diagnosed with a heart attack. After initial treatment, his condition appeared to be stable.

However, on May 1, the doctor said that Prateek insisted on leaving the hospital. The    doctors clearly stated that leaving the ICU could be extremely dangerous for him, terming the move suicidal. Though his wife, Aparna Bhisth Yadav, tried to stop him, Prateek insisted on going home. This was recorded as LAMA (Leave Against Medical Advice) in the medical records.

Postmortem report

The postmortem report has put to rest all rumours that Prateek may have been taking  steroids or narcotics. The report clarifies that the cause of death was massive pulmonary  thromboembolism, and Prateek was on blood thinners, which could explain the deep bruises he had on his body.

The post-mortem report states that Prateek had six injuries on his body. Five were on the right arm from the elbow to the wrist, and one was on the right side of the chest. There was another bruise on the left wrist. All injuries are suspected to have been caused by falling, and none of them could have caused his death.

The report repeatedly states "ecchymosis present underneath the injury," which means that blood seeped and pooled beneath the injury. It also suggests that the injuries were inflicted while the body was alive, not after death.

Reports quoting friends and family said the injuries were caused by two falls—once  before going to the hospital on April 29th, and the second time when he fainted at home just before his death.
