Who is Aparna Yadav? Mulayam Singh’s son alleges his 'selfish' wife 'ruined his family'; says he will seek divorce

Prateek Yadav, son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, said that he is seeking to divorce his wife Aparna Bisht Yadav, a BJP leader, and alleged that she “ruined his family ties.’

In a post on Instagram, Prateek described Paran as a “selfish woman” and said that all she wanted to do was to become “famous and influential. "I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She ruined my family ties. All she wants to do is become famous and influential. Right now, I am in a very bad mental health condition, and she doesn't bother. That's because it's only herself she bothers about. I have never seen such a bad soul, and I was unfortunate to get married to her," he said in the post.

He also said that his mental health was in a bad condition and that she “doesn't bother.”

In the image, he captioned her, “A family destroyer.”

Prateek Yadav is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife, Sadhna Yadav. His stepbrother is the former Chief Minister Akhilesh yadav who is also the head of the Samajwadi Party, the main opposition in Uttar Pradesh.

Aparna's personal assistant (PA) Himanshu Rai told ETV Bharat that the post is fake as Prateek's account had been hacked."Someone has posted an inappropriate message but there is no truth behind it," Rai said.

Who is Aparna Yadav?

Aparna Yadav is currently a BJP leader, and she was appointed as the vice chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Women in September 2024.

In 2017, she had contested the Lucknow Cantt assembly seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket but was defeated by  BJP candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi.  Before the 2022 polls, she switched to the BJP.

Aparana’s father is a journalist who currently serves as the U.P. State Information Commissioner, while her mother is an official of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.

She is an alumna of the University of Manchester and holds an MA degree in international relations and politics.

She is also a trained classical singer and studied at the Bahatkhande music institute in Lucknow.

She married Prateek in 2012 after their engagement in 2011. Their marriage was considered one of the most high-profile weddings in the state and was attended by prominent figures like Anil Ambani and Amitabh Bachchan. The couple had known each other for a decade before their marriage.
