Voting for the second and final phase of the West Bengal elections concluded on Wednesday, bringing an end to the Assembly elections for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, West Bengal, and Puducherry.
According to the first set of exit polls from Axis My India for Assam, the BJP is predicted to sweep the state with 88-100 seats in the state's 126-member Assembly, putting it well above the majority mark.
In contrast, the Congress coalition led by the Gogoi trio could be looking at a possible defeat, the survey said, estimating that it would get just 24-36 seats.
In terms of vote share, Axis My India's exit poll claims that the NDA could get 48 per cent of the votes, as compared to 38 per cent for the Congress-led alliance. The remaining 14 per cent of the votes are expected to go to the other parties.
Two other exit polls for Assam are out, which predict a roughly similar NDA sweep in the state.
As per P-MARQ, the NDA alliance is poised to get 82-94 seats in the state, while Matrize has predicted it could get as much as 85-95 seats.
In contrast, P-MARQ has claimed that the Congress-led alliance might only get 30-40 seats across the state, while Matrize has predicted an even lower figure of 25-32 seats.
People's Pulse and Poll Diary have also predicted such wide disparities in seat projections for the NDA and Congress alliances.
People's Pulse claimed that the BJP-led NDA alliance would get 68-72 seats, while Poll Diary raised the figures to 86-101 for the saffron party.
However, People's Pulse has projected 22-26 seats for the Congress-led alliance, while Poll Diary has given them an estimate of 15-26.
