Security forces on Thursday detained a "suspicious" person at an Army formation in Jammu and a probe into his activities has been launched, official sources said.
According to news agency PTI, sources added that further details are awaited. Other reports, however, claimed that a driver of a van belonging to an Army Public School near the Sunjwa formation was found to have three Pakistani contacts on his mobile phone.
One such article said that Pakistani phone contacts were found on his phone during a routine check at the B Gate. The possibility of him having cross-border links with anti-India elements are being probed, it said. School bus drivers are given access to Army installation provided they carry their entry cards.
"A suspicious individual has been detained. The matter is under investigation," a source said. The driver is a local and intekkigence sleuthes have been called in to join the interrogations. More details are awaited.
Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General P K Mishra, visited the Romeo Force in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district to review the operational preparedness and the overall security grid.
"He was briefed on the current security scenario, ongoing counter-terrorism operations and the synergised coordination with other security agencies to maintain a robust and responsive grid. 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 & 𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 — 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱," the Army said in a post on X.
The Army emphasised that operational excellence, synergy and unrelenting vigilance remain the bedrock of a strong security framework in the region.
