A 24-year-old Indore MBA student was found dead inside the rented accommodation of her boyfriend in Indore on Friday. According to news reports, the body was in a decomposed state, and the victim's father had to identify her by her socks.

The body was found by the Indore Police after residents of Indore's Uncle Gali on Friday reported a foul smell emanating from the room. When the police broke in, the naked body of the girl was reportedly found inside in a decomposed state with strangulation marks caused by a rope on her neck.

The mobile phones of the girl and her boyfriend—the occupant of the crime scene—had been switched off since Wednesday night. Earlier that same day, the family had bid her farewell as she went to attend a birthday party with a classmate identified as Piyush Dhanotia, who was her boyfriend, NDTV said in a report. While she promised to be back by 11:00 pm that night, her family never heard from her again.

Meanwhile, a sexually explicit video of the girl alongside a man was shared in the college WhatsApp group. While the face of the man was hidden using emojis, the woman's face was not, the report added. This prompted college authorities to try to contact both Dhanotia and the victim by phone. Her family was later notified and soon alerted the police.

Piyush Dhanotia's door was locked from the outside, forcing the police to break the door open. A medical examination confirmed that the young woman had died around three days ago, which aligns with the day she went missing, the NDTV report said. However, a post-mortem is yet to be carried out.

Piyush Dhanotia, who is at large, remains the primary suspect in the case. He is a native of Mandsaur and had moved to Indore to pursue his MBA.
