Confident Group owner CJ Roy dies by suicide in Bengaluru

C.J. Roy, the chairman and owner of the renowned real estate firm Confident Group, died by suicide in his Bengaluru office on Hosur Road

Leading businessman and founder and chairman of Confident Group, C.J. Roy, died by suicide by shooting himself at his office in Bengaluru. According to a Malayala Manorama report, the incident happened at 5 pm on Friday. 

According to media reports, the incident happened in the wake of central agency raids at the company's offices.

 He took the extreme step in his office on Hosur Road in Ashok Nagar of Bengaluru.

Although he was immediately rushed to Narayana Hospital in HSR Layout, he succumbed to injuries, say media reports.

Raids have been going on for the past few days at different offices of Confident Group.

Some of the reports suggest that he shot himself when the agency officials were present in the room. Police have reached the spot and initiated further investigation.

Roy hails from Kochi in Kerala.

Confident Group is a prominent real estate developer majorly operating in Kerala, in cities like Kochi, Trivandrum, Thrissur, Calicut, and Kottayam, apart from Bengaluru and Dubai.

Who is C.J. Roy?

A well-known entrepreneur and film producer, Roy hails from Kochi in Kerala. 

He has a Doctorate in Business Administration from SBS Business School, Zurich, Switzerland.

According to the Confident Group website, after his studies, Roy ventured out into construction and real estate business.

"In the nearly 2 decades of business experience, Roy has mastered the civil Industry and he is also probably the first to design and implement the 4 Side ventilation concept in Bangalore. He has also pioneered the concept of concrete roads for the townships, which has today become a standard in every township that is being built in Bangalore," his biography on the website reads.
