Union Minister Amit Shah targeted Congress and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi over its losses in elections. Shah asked how the Congress would win if it opposed all popular programmes.
Addressing an event in Ahmedabad, the Union minister said there is a disconnect between Congress and the national pulse, hence it is repeatedly losing in elections. Shah said that Rahul Gandhi's repeated failures at the polls are a direct result of prioritising legal technicalities over the "politics of development", ANI reported.
The Union minister claimed that while the Bharatiya Janata Party won repeatedly in elections by winning the public's trust, Congress is losing because it is at odds with issues that have significant public support. Shah said Gandhi failed to understand public sentiments and the politics of development.
Rahul Gandhi's repeated failures at the polls are a direct result of prioritising legal technicalities over thepolitics of development," Shah said.
Shah charged Rahul Gandhi with focusing on issues such as FIRs instead of addressing public issues. "Instead of understanding governance and public issues, Rahul Gandhi is busy understanding FIRs, which is not even his responsibility," ANI reported, quoting the Union minister.
