Dense fog disrupts over 50 trains in Delhi; stranded passengers endure cold weather

The dense fog in Delhi has disrupted railways for the 6th consecutive day. Weather agencies warned that the reduced visibility in the region may continue for at least two more days.

Over 50 trains are running late under the Northern Railway network. Delays range from 30 minutes to over six hours.

Authorities have advised passengers to check real-time updates before starting to travel.

Several trains were rescheduled at the Delhi Railway Station. Visuals from the New Delhi railway station showed thick fog.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, a key railway station on the Howrah-Delhi route, was reported to be covered in dense fog.

All Rajdhani trains were reported to be running late, as speeds were restricted due to low visibility. Express trains from Delhi to Howrah and the northeast are running about 5-6 hours late. The schedule of trains travelling to Delhi from the routes was also disrupted.

Passengers were forced to endure the cold for hours as the trains ran late. Stranded passengers at the stations also grew by the hour.

Trains like the New Delhi-Baruni Humsafar Special arrived at the station nine and a quarter hours late. The New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat and New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat were each delayed by approximately five hours.

The city's air quality showed slight improvement, with AQI at 366 at 8 AM.
