About 58 lakh voters were deleted under the SIR of the electoral rolls in West Bengal.
The list features voters whose names were deleted on grounds of being absent from registered addresses, having permanently shifted, deceased or being marked as duplicate voters in more than one constituency.
Out of them, 24.17 lakh were deceased voters, 19.88 lakh were relocated, 12.20 lakh were missing, and 1.38 lakh were duplicate voters.
About 58 lakh forms out of the 7.66 crore enumeration forms issued were found uncollected, and 30 lakh unmapped forms with the 2002 list were also received.
The "unmapped" category refers to voters whose names or the names of their parents could not be applied to the final electoral rolls.
Election officials said that the inclusion in the draft list does not mean retention, and all the flagged voters will be given an opportunity to be heard.
According to one report, the highest number of unmapped voters was found in the Matua community and Matua-dominated areas.
The Matua community is one of the largest scheduled caste groups in the state.
In the Nadia south, which is an area dominated by the group, 2 lakh out of 2.5 lakh voters were reported to be unmapped, according to Bartamanpatrika.
According to sources, 14.5 percent of unmapped voters were seen in Gaighata in North 24 Parganas. Similarly, 13.6 percent voters in Habra, 12.7 percent in Bagda, 11.9 percent in Kalyani, 11.8 percent in Ashoknagar, 11.3 percent in Bangaon North, 11.2 percent in Ranaghat North East, 10.8 percent in Bangaon, 10.4 percent in Krishnaganj, 10.3 percent in Ranaghat North West, 9.3 percent in Ranaghat South, 9 percent in Chakdaha, 8.5 percent in Shantipur, 7.5 percent in Krishnanagar North, and 7.2 percent in Haringhata have been identified as unmapped.
In minority areas like Murshidabad in the state, the unmapped voters were fewer.
The highest number of unmapped voters in these areas was in Bhagwangela (2.6 per cent). In Lalgoa (1.1 per cent), in Shamsherganj (1 per cent), in Raninagar (0.9 per cent), in Raghunathganj (0.7 per cent), in Hariharpara (0.6 per cent), and in Sujapur of Malda (0.5 per cent), in Domkal (0.4 per cent), voters are unmapped
Voters who are labelled as unmapped will be eligible for a hearing. Hearings will go on until January 15.
The final voters' list will be published on February 14.
