Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday directed security agencies to hunt down each and every culprit responsible for the deadly car blast near Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening.

The minister said everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies. His remarks came after the home ministry handed over the probe into the blast to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This indicates that the deadly blast is being considered by the government as an act of terror as NIA probes only terror case.

"Chaired review meetings on the Delhi car blast with the senior officials. Instructed them to hunt down each and every culprit behind this incident. Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies," Shah said.

The statement came after the Union Home Minister chaired two high-level meetings on Tuesday to review the security situation in the capital. Shah was briefed by officials about the developments and then he met them in the morning and later convened another review meeting in the afternoon.

The morning meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, and NIA Director General Sadanand Vasant Date. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat however joined the discussions virtually.

The blast took place in a slow-moving Hyundai i20 at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station on Monday around 6.55 pm, killing at least 13 people.

Earlier in the day, the Congress urged the government to provide clarity on the blast near the Red Fort. Congress media and publicity department head Pawan Khera said even 18 hours after the incident, there is no clarity whether this was an "attack".

"There is no clarity from the government, home ministry, Delhi Police. There is fear and concern among the people that such a thing happened in the country's capital, so it is important to have answers and there should be clarity on it," Khera told PTI. "I don't think that it is appropriate for the government to give out source-based information on such a serious matter. There should be a press conference by the home minister, home secretary or the Delhi Police commissioner, and share information that is needed."
