Delhi Police, investigating the high-intensity car blast near Red Fort, have reportedly obtained crucial CCTV visuals which showed the suspect’s car entering and exiting the parking area.

The footage showed that the i20 car was parked near the Red Fort parking area at 3.19 pm, remained there for nearly three hours, and later exited the parking area around 6:48 pm, when there was heavy crowd movement in the vicinity.

The visuals indicated that the suspect was alone at that time.

Police are now analysing over a hundred CCTV clips collected from nearby roads and toll plazas to trace the vehicle’s full route and identify the suspect.

"Investigators are now tracing the route towards Daryaganj, while more than 100 CCTV clips, including footage from nearby toll plazas, are being examined to establish the complete movement of the vehicle," a source from the police told ANI news agency.

The investigators are likely to question the parking attendant to gather more information about the car and its driver.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have registered a case in connection with the blast under various Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police have closed Gate Nos. 1 and 4 of the Lal Qila Metro Station for public movement due to ongoing security operations in the area.

At least nine people were killed and over 20 others were injured as the high-intensity explosion ripped through a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening.

Police said that the car had three occupants when the blast took place.
