Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently wrote the foreword for the Indian edition of Italian PM Giorgia Meloni's autobiography, 'I Am Giorgia: My Roots, My Principles'. This is the latest in a series of forewords he has written over the years.
Calling her a “patriot and outstanding contemporary leader”, Modi wrote that it was a "great" honour for him to contribute to her book in this manner, as per an Indian Express report.
“It is her Mann Ki Baat," Modi had said, borrowing the name from his own monthly radio broadcast, and adding that "her belief in defending one’s cultural heritage, while engaging with the world on equal terms, mirrors our own values".
Modi was last credited for a foreword in the biography of Anandiben Patel, who became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2014 after Modi—who was, until then, the Chief Minister of the state—became Prime Minister.
Titled 'Dare, Dream, Do: The Extraordinary Life of Anandiben Patel' and published by Rupa Publications, the book details the personal and political story of the 'Iron Lady of Gujarat'.
Veteran actress and BJP MP (Mathura) Hema Malini received the honour in 2017 in her 23-chapter biography 'Beyond The Dreamgirl', penned by producer and former Stardust magazine editor Ram Kamal Mukherjee, and published by HarperCollins India.
“Our PM has written very briefly in the book about his feelings for Hemaji. It’s short, crisp and sweet, not rubble and bubble," he once told IANS about PM Modi's foreword in the book chronicling the actress' life, acting career, relationships, and politics.
In 2014, when he was still the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Modi reportedly wrote forewords for schoolbooks by retired schoolteacher and RSS ideologue Dinanath Batra, although the latter later denied any connection to him.
