Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor-turned-politician Vijay, who began his political campaign in the western Kongu region for the first time, sought to distance his party from the BJP, saying the TVK will not be with the BJP.
He sought to know what the saffron party is doing in Tamil Nadu. "Have they stopped NEET? Have they done anything good for Tamil Nadu," he sought to know.
He alleged that while the AIADMK and the BJP are in alliance, the DMK has an "underground deal" with the saffron party.
Reiterating that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will never make any compromises with the "fascist BJP regime," Vijay said, "If you vote for the DMK, it is indirectly voting for the BJP. They may pretend they are rivals, but you should keep in mind that they are friends behind the scenes."

He claimed that in 2026, there will be a contest between the DMK and his own TVK and asked the people if they want the "worst" DMK government to return.
Namakkal welcomes Vijay
Namakkal, part of the western Kongu region, had for decades been a stronghold of the AIADMK. The BJP also has pockets of influence across the Kongu region. However, people have turned up in large numbers for the TVK campaign.
The supporters of the actor-politician adorned streets with the flags of his party and put up banners with large images of Vijay.
Police made elaborate arrangements to ensure the gathering remained peaceful.
In a statement, TVK appealed to supporters to follow police instructions. The cadres should not follow the vehicle in which Vijay is travelling. They should not climb government or private buildings, trees, EB lamp posts or transformers, the party said.
