The Delhi government is developing a Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for conducting public grievance redressal programme, Jan Sunwai, in all assembly constituencies in the national capital. The move comes after Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was assaulted recently by a miscreant during such a programme at her official residence.
Chief Minister Gupta recently announced that the public grievance hearing programme will be conducted in all 70 assembly seats in Delhi. According to officials, the first such public hearing is likely to be held in the next couple of weeks, and officials of the related departments would be present during the programme.
"The work is on to develop an SOP (standard operating procedure) for these programmes in all the assemblies. The Jan Sunwai will be launched from a suitable assembly constituency that is being identified to ensure maximum benefit to the locals," a government official told PTI.

The official said the SOP will lay down clear instructions for the officers, and security arrangements during these programmes will be defined. "A mechanism can be developed to effectively redress problems related to different departments raised by the people during the Jan Sunwai programmes," he said.
"It is planned to hold at least one Jan Sunwai per week in the assembly constituencies in the coming days. The Jan Sunwai at CM's camp office will also continue," a senior official of the Delhi government said.
Delhi Chief Minister Gupta announced that the public grievance redressal programme will be held in all assembly constituencies after a person from Rajkot attacked her earlier this month. The attacker was identified as Rajesh Sakariya, an autorickshaw driver from Rajkot. He allegedly assaulted Gupta over the Supreme Court's directions to control the stray dog menace in the national capital. The Centre beefed up Gupta's security following the incident.
