The opposition Congress took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and charged that the prime minister is not responding to United States President Donald Trump's threats to protect his billionaire "friend" Gautam Adani.
In a video published on Tuesday, the Congress called Prime Minister Modi "weak" and he is "feared" to take on President Trump, despite the latter taking open jabs at Modi. "It is Trump vs AA (Adani, Ambani) and Modi is stuck in the middle... too scared to speak... too tied to his billionaire friends," Congress charged.

Congress charged Trump is aware about the US probe against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani is earning huge profits processing Russian oil. "Modi knows if Trump exposes AA, he goes down too," the opposition party charged.

"Modi is staying quiet, not out of strategy, but out of fear," it alleged. Congress attack comes amid fresh tariff threats from Trump. The US president has threatened to impose additional tariffs over India-Russia ties.
Earlier on Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "India, please understand: The reason PM Modi cannot stand up to President Trump despite his repeated threats is the ongoing US investigation into Adani. One threat is to expose the financial links between Modi, AA, and Russian oil deals. Modi’s hands are tied."
