Opposition MPs have moved adjournment motions in both houses of Parliament, seeking discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and security lapses that led to the attack. The monsoon session of Parliament will begin on Monday.
Indicating both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha may witness strong protests from opposition benches on Monday, MPs of opposition parties have moved motions seeking suspension of house business and discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack. During an all-party meeting on Sunday, opposition leaders had demanded discussion on various issues including Operation Sindoor, Pahalgam terror attack, electoral roll revision in Bihar and Manipur violence.
Congress whip in the Lok Sabha, Manickam Tagore, has given adjourment notice to discuss Pahalgam terror attack. In his notice, Tagore sought discussion on glaring security lapses that led to the Pahalgam terror attack, the questionable foreign policy handling in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, the recent claim by the US President that five Indian fighter jets were shot down during recent India-Pakistan conflict and lack of response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issues.
In Rajya Sabha, CPI MP Sandosh Kumar sought a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack, suspending zero hour and other business of the house for the day.

According to the government, 21 sittings spread over 32 days has been scheduled during the monsoon session. The session, which begins on July 21, will conclude on August 21. Both houses will break between August 12 and 18 to facilitate Independence Day celebrations.
