Aishwarya Rai, the estranged wife of Tej Pratap Yadav (the elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad), called him out amid his exit from the party and family trouble. She alleged that his actions were merely misleading the people in the months before the Bihar elections.
"I'm certain Rabri Devi (his mother) must have assured him that they would manage the situation and advised him to stay calm," she claimed.
His father Lalu Prasad expelled him from the party on Sunday for his son's “irresponsible” actions, severing all family ties with him after the latter announced on social media that he had been "in a relationship for 12 years" with a woman.
To add fuel to the fire, Tej Pratap had posted his controversial Facebook post despite a protracted wait for his divorce petition to be taken up in court. It was pending before a family court in Patna. In response to the backlash, he deletd the post a few hours later, claiming on X that his Facebook page had been “hacked”.
Lamenting her position in this embarrassing case, Aishwarya questioned why he married her and ruined her life if he already been “involved” with someone else.
“Why did he assault me?” she argued.
Tej Pratap, then aged 37, had married Aishwarya Rai, the grand-daughter of Daroga Rai, a former Bihar CM, in a grand ceremony in 2018. However, the marriage was anything but, as it only lasted five months, after which she left his home, accusing Tej Pratap and his family of mistreatment, that she terms as “assault” here.
As the long-drawn divorce proceedings go on, the two sides have made some serious public accusations against each other. While Tej Pratap Yadav accused his wife of demanding a large alimony, Aishwarya alleged that her husband displayed troubling behaviour in private, consuming drugs and sometimes dressing like a woman.
Arguing that blaming a woman was the easiest way out, Aishwarya vowed to continue the high-profile fight, with her father, Chandrika Roy, quitting the RJD to fight for his wronged daughter, “both politically and legally”.
