CB-CID begins probe into dumping of sewage waste, human feces at DMK-critic YouTuber's house

The incident has sparked off a political storm in Tamil Nadu with the opposition AIADMK and the BJP targeting the M.K. Stalin government.

The CB-CID wing of Tamil Nadu Police has launched an investigation into the incident in which a group of people barged into the house of YouTuber 'Savukku' Shankar and poured sewage water and human feces.

Director General of Police Shankar Jiwal said the case has been transferred to the CB-CID after Shankar made "certain allegations” against the Greater Chennai Police and the Commissioner of Police.

“Based on the request, the petition in G-3 Kilpauk Police Station CSR No 118/2025 has been transferred to CBCID for further enquiry," a release from the Head of Police Force (HoPF) said.

Shankar, is a vocal critic of the ruling DMK in the state. The incident has sparked off a political storm in the state with the opposition AIADMK and the BJP targeting the M.K. Stalin government.

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), an ally of the DMK, also condemned the incident.

AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswamy demanded stern action against the perpetrators and said no one with faith in democracy could tolerate it.

BJP state chief K. Annamalai said: "We can realise based on whose instigation this is happening”.

The MDMK and actor-politician Vijay-led Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam, too, strongly condemned the incident and sought tough action against the culprits.

Shankar had claimed that he exposed a corruption in December 2024 in the use of 230 vehicles, provided under a government scheme for sewage clearance related tasks.

He had also alleged that a top Congress leader from the state had a key role in facilitating the corruption.
