The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will outline and announce its massive year-long outreach as it completes 100 years on Vijayadashami this year. The issue will be addressed during the Sangh’s annual meeting in Bengaluru, starting on 21 March.
The three-day annual meeting will not only finalise the blueprint for the commemorative events but also serve as a platform to assess the achievements and challenges of the past year. Plans will be formulated for the five ongoing focus areas of the Sangh: family values, social harmony, the environment, Swadeshi conduct, and civic duty. The Sangh aims to expand its outreach to the maximum population in a greater number of cities across the country.
The programmes may also include honouring lesser-known cultural icons and participating in major events to mark its growing presence. The RSS also plans to hold training sessions for individuals under 40 years of age, as well as another set for those aged between 40 and 60.

In addition to reviewing last year’s activities and targets, the RSS will discuss the current social and political situation in the country and the neighbouring region, particularly the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. A resolution on Bangladesh will be discussed and adopted at the meeting, RSS media in-charge Sunil Ambekar said.
A second resolution will focus on the Sangh’s centenary. The RSS, founded on Vijayadashami in 1925, will complete 100 years on this year’s Vijayadashami, which falls on October 2—also Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. This meeting is therefore significant, as it is expected to provide direction for Sangh’s future work and perspectives on key issues.
The annual meeting is a regular feature in Sangh’s yearly calendar, where the work carried out by state units, its cadre, and the assessment of last year’s targets are reviewed. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale will participate in the discussions alongside other senior pracharaks. Hosabale will also present a report on the Sangh’s expansion activities over the past year.
A total of 32 Sangh-inspired organisations, including the BJP, will take part in the meeting. BJP president J.P. Nadda will represent the party.
Ambekar stated that the RSS has expanded its outreach even in remote areas, adding that a significant number of young people are showing interest in joining the Sangh. Around 1.25 lakh youths have expressed interest via the online feature on the RSS website.
Modi’s Visit
Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s expected visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on March 30, Ambekar noted that this would not be the first time a prime minister had visited their office. Previously, then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had also visited the Reshimbagh office in Nagpur. Modi’s visit is significant as the BJP has yet to elect a new party president, with Nadda’s term having ended. The issue of appointing a new party chief is expected to be discussed.
Ambekar also described the issue of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb as "not relevant". The matter had sparked riots in Nagpur. He stated that the police had taken cognisance of the violence and were taking steps to control the situation.
