A young couple allegedly killed their children and killed themselves in Hyderabad’s Habsiguda during the late hours of Monday. Telangana police have recovered their bodies a suicide note supposedly written by the lecturer.

According to police, the deceased were identified as Chandrasekhar Reddy (44), his wife Kavitha (35), daughter Sritha Reddy (15) and son Viswan Reddy (10). Reddy, a lecturer by profession lost his job about six months ago and the family was under severe financial stress.

The incident came to light after the neighbours alerted police. The couple, who originally hail from Mahabubnagar in Telangana moved to Hyderabad a year ago.

Personnel from Osmania University police station rushed to the spot after neighbours alerted them. According to police, the couple was found hanging inside the house. “The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Monday, at their residence at Ravindranagar Colony in Habsiguda area. We rushed to the spot after getting a call from neighbours and began an investigation. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the couple had first strangled their children to death, before hanging themselves,” Hindustan Times reported quoting Inspector N. Rajender.

While Reddy and his Kavitha were found hanging in separate rooms, the children were found lying on the bed. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy.

Police said Reddy lost his job six months ago and the family’s financial condition worsened. Apparently, Reddy was also suffering from health ailments. “No one is responsible for my death. I had no other option but to end my life. Please forgive me. I have been struggling in my career and suffering physically and mentally. I have been battling diabetes, nerve-related issues, and kidney diseases,” read the suicide note recovered by police. A police probe is underway.
