The National Commission for Women on Friday said the YouTubers summoned by the body, over their controversial remarks during ‘India's Got Latent’ show, expressed regret and said they would speak of women with respect.
Addressing presspersons, NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said she strongly condemns the language used by the YouTubers on the show. “NCW immediately took cognisance of it and we issued them notice,” she said. “They expressed regret over their words in the show. All of them presented apologies before the Commission. They also said that they won't make any such mistake in future,” the chairperson said.
The YouTubers appeared before the Commission on Thursday. Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, lawyers of comic Jaspreet Singh and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and producers of the show – Saurabh Bothra and Tushar Poojari, appeared before the Commission and provided clarification for their comments.
The chairperson said the YouTubers told the Commission that they would be mindful of their language henceforth and speak of women with respect.

The Commission’s comments come as the Supreme Court is hearing the YouTubers’ plea seeking quashing of multiple FIRs registered in various states in connection with the case or clubbing them. Recently, hearing Allahbadia’s plea, the top court came down heavily on the YouTuber and said, “Using filthy language is not talent.” The bench also said parents and sisters would be ashamed of the language used in the show.
However, considering Allahbadia’s plea, the bench allowed him to resume the Ranveer Show, considering the livelihood of over 200 persons employed by him. The Court also restricted registering fresh FIRs against the YouTubers over the matter.
