The Congress party may be planning a reshuffle in its Bihar unit, as speculation grows over state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh’s future following the appointment of a new in-charge. This move could signal a broader leadership overhaul ahead of the upcoming elections.
The party is weighing in multiple factors, including administrative ability, and grassroots influence, before finalizing a replacement of the Bihar state president. According to sources, the party high command wants to appoint someone who fits well in the caste equation of the state.
According to an AICC office bearer, "For around last 10 years, the Bihar Congress does not have a committee (executive body) of its own and if the new president is appointed, the party may also set up a new executive body."

The potential leadership change is being viewed as part of Congress’s broader strategy to restructure its state units and strengthen its position in key battlegrounds ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.
However, other leaders suggest that although the state leadership is pushing for the leadership change in the state there are a few leaders in the high command who want him to continue.
In addition, sources say that the new in-charge of the state Krishna Allavaru has also shown interest in the appointment of a new president.
A Congress leader said, "The new incharge would want a leader who can function smoothly under him. Therefore he may have expressed his choice of leaders."
With nearly six months remaining ahead of the state assembly elections, political analysts argue that the Congress will also have to factor in the possibility of a disruption of balance within the party in the state if it replaces its senior leader as there are not many options on the table.
Moreover, the current president is also capable of managing the financial aspect of the state unit, an analyst said. Till then there is wait and watch on what strategy is adopted by the Congress which is trying to revive its fortunes.
