Sensitive area
Seismologists say the quake was of only moderate intensity but was felt across Delhi and NCR regions. Shallow earthquakes, originating five or 10 kilometres below the surface, are more dangerous than those from deep below the surface.
Delhi-NCR region falls under seismic zone IV, which means it is highly sensitive. The Jheel Park region has been experiencing smaller, low-magnitude quakes once every two to three years, with it recording 3.3 magnitude in 2015, PTI quoted an official.
