A day after security forces conducted a large-scale anti-militancy operation in Jammu, police in Rajouri, assisted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), searched 25 locations across the district.
The operation was carried out under warrants issued by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court as part of an ongoing investigation into militant networks operating in the region. Raids took place in Rajouri, Nowshera, Thannamandi, Darhal, Koteranka, Budhal, Manjakot and Chingus, targeting individuals suspected of links with banned militant groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
During the searches, security forces seized incriminating documents and other significant materials. The raids were aimed at dismantling a militant network working to revive Over Ground Workers (OGWs) in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities suspect the network is involved in recruiting, planning, and executing militant activities in the region.
These operations are part of a broader strategy to prevent militants from using the winter months to establish bases in remote forested areas near the Line of Control (LoC). Security forces remain on high alert, particularly due to the upcoming operationalisation of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Line (USBRL) in February.

Trial runs have been conducted multiple times from Katra to Banihal following the completion of Tunnel 1 in Katra. This tunnel posed the greatest challenge in the USBRL project due to difficult terrain and water leakage, issues that were overcome using advanced engineering techniques.
The 111 km stretch from Katra to Banihal features the world’s tallest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge—taller than the Eiffel Tower—along with India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge, Angikhad. It also includes three of the country’s longest tunnels: T49 (12.75km), T15 and T80, both exceeding 11.2km.
With a renewed focus on intelligence-driven operations, security forces are working to ensure long-term peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir. Investigations are ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings from the seized materials.
