Son of slain Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique and NCP leader, Zeeshan Siddique, has raised doubts about the Mumbai police’s probe in connection with his father’s murder and said he would meet Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over police inaction in the case. Zeeshan charged those suspected by the family in the murder have not been questioned by investigators yet.
Zeeshan has approached the trial court to get a copy of the charge-sheet filed by the police in the case as investigators have refused to provide him with one. The Nationalist Congress Party (AP) leader has met Gautam Lakhmi, Joint Commissioner of Mumbai police to know the status of the probe. Zeeshan raised doubts about the probe after police reportedly told him that builders named as suspects by him were not questioned by the police in connection with the murder yet.
"The Mumbai police asked me for names of suspects and I had given the names of some builders. However, none of these builders have been questioned. This is ridiculous. The law and order situation in Maharashtra has become a joke. I want to know why these suspects are not being questioned," Zeeshan asked.

Zeeshan asked why are builders being protected. Reportedly, the son of the veteran politician has suspected the role of a few builders involved in slum redevelopment in Baba Siddique’s murder. “Why have builders involved in slum redevelopment business not been questioned so far? The police have failed to arrest prime accused Anmol Bishnoi, Shubham Lonkar and others. Why are certain builders being protected? I do not know who is protecting whom, but we will get to the bottom of this matter," he said.
Zeeshan said he would raise the issue with Chief Minister Fadnavis. Zeeshan added he would also meet Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar over the issue.
Veteran politician Baba Siddique was shot dead outside Zeeshan’s office in Bandra's Nirmal Nagar area on October 12. Mumbai police have so far arrested 29 persons in connection with the case and it filed its charge-sheet in court recently. According to police, gangster Anmol Bishnoi allegedly ordered the killing of Siddique to "create an atmosphere of terror". Police suspect Siddique was murdered due to his close relationship with actor Salman Khan, another celebrity on the gang’s hit list.
