Ratan Tata passes away: ‘Haven’t met anyone like him; learnt philanthropy from Tata’, remembers Sudha Murty

Rajya Sabha MP and founder of Infosys Foundation Sudha Murty remembered Ratan Tata as a man of integrity and enormous patience. Known for her philanthropy works, Murty said she learnt it from the House of Tata.
Remembering the icon, Murty said, “A man of integrity and simplicity and always caring for others and compassionate… I really miss him… I don't think in my experience, I have met anyone like him,” ANI reported.
Sudha, wife of Infosys founder Narayan Murty noted it was the end of an era and Ratan Tata’s passing was a personal loss for her.”Ratan Tata had enormous patience, he was a simple man. I learn philanthropy in the House of Tatas only.”
Ratan Tata was big on philanthropy. He was chairman of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Allied Trusts, and the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Allied Trusts. He was chairman of the council of management of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, and trustee of Cornell University and the University of Southern California.
Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away in Mumbai during the late hours of Wednesday. He was 86. Tata was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital earlier this week for age-related medical checkups. His health worsened in the next 48 hours and he breathed his last close to midnight on Wednesday.
Tata’s mortal remains is now kept on the lawns of the National Centre for Performing Arts in Nariman Point for viewing by the public. At 3:30 pm, the funeral cortege will leave for Worli crematorium where the last rites will be performed.
