An Army captain was killed during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Wednesday, according to officials.
The martyred officer was identified as Captain Deepak Singh from 48 Rashtriya Rifles. Singh, who was initially injured critically, was admitted to a military hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
It was reported that four terrorists have been neutralised and a civilian injured during the cordon and search operation held in the higher reaches of the district. The operation was carried out by a joint team of Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The Army team was trying to find a group of foreign terrorists hiding in the Shivgarh-Assar belt when the gunfight occurred, officials said. The terrorists were holed up near a river in Assar.

The team has recovered four blood-soaked rucksacks from the area, hinting that four terrorists were killed. M-4 carbines were also found, the officials said.
Officials believe the terrorists crossed into Doda from a forest near Patnitop in adjacent Udhampur district after a brief gunfight with the security forces.
