The helicopter used by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, as part of his Tamil Nadu election campaign, was checked by election officials on Monday. According to Tamil Nadu police, the checks were conducted by the flying squad officials.

Gandhi was en route to his parliamentary constituency in Kerala's Wayanad when his chopper was checked.

On arrival at Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi took out a massive roadshow at Sulthan Bathery as part of his election campaign. He also interacted with students at the Arts and Science College in Wayanad before holding the rally. Rahul is also expected to take out road shows in Mananthavady, Vellamunda and Padinjarathara and address party workers there, Congress sources said.

The Congress leader will also meet the bishop of Mananthavady diocese in view of the screening of the controversial movie 'The Kerala Story'.

Addressing an election rally, Rahul said the idea that India should have only one leader was an insult to people. "We did not get freedom from the British only to be colonised by RSS's ideology," the Congress leader said in Wayanad.
